Had a nice weekend. Mainly played at the house. Did get out for Church of course. School went well. Made Corn Bread and homemade butter as the colonists did for Heritage Studies and measured and classified for Science. She classified rocks and enjoyed it so much she did more before bed, this time adding more details and as she does w/ most everything, made a game out of it. Got out the rarely seen these dayz Care Bears and played w/ them on multiple occasion which was fun and played the coolest game of horses where we were horse tied to the dinning room chairs by jump ropes and we each had an owner. Lionel was the good owner of MaryJane and Kelly was the bad owner of me. Not long ago Lionel went from being bad to being good and Kelly went from being good to being bad. Not sure the reasoning, but were having fun w/ it.
Yesterday was the 1st day of Treehouse and MaryJane had a blast. She was so excited to go; acting as though she was going to sleep immediately at bed time, picking out Princess themed clothes for "All About Princesses", and even making wishes the all her classes would be great and that the best would be Princesses. She loves Treehouse. She was excited about all her classes and seeing all her friends, but the most excited about her Princess class and seeing her friend Katie who did not attend Treehouse last semester. I paid her a visit at lunch time as usual and it was fab We ate and chatted about her morning and stuff, froze outside for a few minutes, and hung out w/ some other princesses in the princess class room. She wasnt the only one excited about that class. : ) Talked to her afterwards and she had a great day for sure. What a darling. I attended Community Group last nite. Finished up our Lesson from last Semester, chowed on some Mad Pizza (1st time for me and Yum, hardly no sauce and yummy cheese), and set up things for next semester. Next week is guyz nite. Not sure what were doing yet, but sure it will be fun. Then the next week we begin our lesson on the book of Romans. Im hosting and leading. Should be fun.
Here are MaryJanes Classes.
Fables
Students will explore classic and modern fables by creating dioramas, lapbooks, and various 2 and 3 dimensional crafts.
Pioneer Days
Learn about life on the frontier. Where did people get their food? Their clothes? Their tools? We'll discover the joys and challenges that people experienced during the settling of this great land. We'll do crafts, read together, make some pioneer snacks and play some fun games as we learn what it was like to live long ago.
Discovering The Treehouse
We continue this course based on the popular Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. We will use this wonderful series to explore the magic of books. Do Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knights at Dawn, Mummies in the Morning sound interesting? This class is for beginning and non-readers. We will read, discuss and do some projects pertaining to the "time" we travel to. We will read portions of the book in class but students should ideally have a copy of the book to read at home with a parent or on their own. This course will run through Spring Term 2009. A ticket for the spring production of The Magic Treehouse at the Walton Arts Center on March 9th at 9:30 is included in the materials fee.
All About Princesses
Young ladies will enjoy arts and crafts, reading stories, and playing games all revolving around princesses. An end of term “tea” party will give our Treehouse princesses the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge they have gained. Tiaras are optional.
Arts & Crafts
Students will explore a variety of arts and crafts techniques. Projects will include clay pinch pots, weaving, mosaics, and more. Come discover your creative side and get just a little messy at the same time. Wear old clothes or bring a smock.
Storytime Arts & Crafts
Each week we’ll read a story and create a cool craft to compliment the story. Kids will have fun using different mediums to create projects perfect for any fridge, centerpiece or gift-giving occasion.
